InTimer Support & FAQ

How do I edit my team?

You can create your team right when you open the app for the first time. Just tap “Add Player” and enter the player’s name, repeating until everyone is accounted for. You can use the three-line “drag-and-drop” handles to the right of each Player to reorder the Team List if you like. Then tap “Save Team” to save.

To manage your Team List after your initial setup, tap “Edit Your Team” at the top of the home screen.

How do I change player’s name?

On the Edit Your Team page, tap the Player’s name to bring up the keyboard, and edit their name to your heart’s content.

Editing a Player’s name will not change their play time statistics.

How do I remove a Player from my Team?

On the Edit Your Team page, swipe left to reveal a trash can icon. Tap the icon to delete the Player. This will remove the player and their play time statistics and cannot be undone.

How do I change the sort order of my Team?

To manually reorder your team, go to the Edit Your Team view. Then use the three-line “drag-and-drop” handles to the right of each Player name to set the order.
From the home page, you can use the A/Z and [timer icon] buttons to sort alphabetically or by time played. Tap each button again to switch between ascending and descending order. Tap once more to return to your Team List order (set on the Edit Your Team page).

Can I have more than one Team at a time?

At this time, InTimer only supports the use of a single team.

Do I need a subscription to use InTimer?

Yes, a subscription is required to use InTimer. We have created several options to help you find the best fit for you and your team:

If you have short seasons, you may try the Monthly subscription, which features a two-week free trial, and can be unsubscribed/resubscribed whenever your season is on or off.

For longer commitments, we offer a steeply discounted Annual subscription with an even longer free trial (one month). This is best for teams who play more than a few months throughout the year.

Our most affordable long-term option is the Forever unlock, which removes the need for a subscription and entitles you to use InTimer, well, forever. With all future updates and features included. This would be the best option if you’ll be coaching for more than one year.

How do I start tracking play time?

Once you’ve created your Team, you are ready to play! Just tap “Play Now” at the bottom of the home page.
If you haven’t, sign up for a free trial or purchase the right subscription for you, then continue to Game Setup. This is where you will confirm the Total Game Time, use of a Goalie, and Active Players count (the number of players on the field/court/ice/etc).
Once your game parameters are set, it’s time to check in your player’s attendance. Simply tap each Player as they arrive to add them to the game. The players will be added to the Starting Lineup and Available Players lists in the order in which they are checked in, and can be reorganized by using the three-line “drag-and-drop” handles to the right of each Player name.
If a player or players arrive the game begins, they can be added by tapping their name in the Out list. However, the Goal Time per player will not be updated from this screen.

What is Total Game Time? Can I set time for quarters, halves, or other time periods?

Total Game Time is a cumulative total game time in minutes for your game. Two 20-minute halves equals a total play time of 40-minute total game time. This time should reflect the actual time on the official game clock if your team or league uses one.

How do I set a Player as the Goalie?

To set a Player as Goalie, first toggle on the “Use Goalie” setting near the top of the Game Settings page.

When Use Goalie is set to “on”, the first player in the Starting Lineup list will be assigned to the goalie spot, indicated by the [G icon] icon. To set a different player as goalie, use the three-line “drag-and-drop” handles to the right of each Player name to move a different player to the top of the Starting Lineup list.

How do I start a game?

The “Start Game” button appears when the number of players you have checked-in to your starting lineup matches the number of Active Players indicated at the top of your Game Settings. Remember, adding a goalie will result in needing one more player than the active players count (5 active players + 1 goalie = 6 players needed for your starting lineup).

Once you have that many players checked-in, you may start your game anytime. You may also wait to see if more player arrive, to check them into your available players list (warmly known as “the bench.”)

Why doesn’t the Goalie auto-select for substitution?

Since Goalies are often playing for longer periods of time, if not the whole game, Players in this role (noted by the [G icon] icon and found at the top of the Active Players list) are skipped by the automatic substitution selection when you tap on a Player in the Available Players list. The Goalie can be substituted by tapping their name in the Active Players list.

To manually select a goalie substitution, press-and-hold on either the Goalie or the Player you would like to substitute in, then tap the other for a manual substitution pairing.

How do I add or remove Players after I start the game?

To add players to your Available Players list after the game has begun, just tap the [plus] icon next to their name in the Out List. They will then become available for substitutions and play time tracking.

To remove a player (who might be leaving early, or become injured, or be removed from play for any reason), tap-and-hold on their name and tap the [minus] icon. If the player is not in active play, they will move to the Out List. If the player is in your Active Players List (in other words, actively playing in the game), you will need to first select a substitute from your Available Players. The player tagged as “Out” will move to the Out List on the next substitution.

What is Goal Time?

The Goal Time is a measurement created by the total game time, number of active players on the field or court at any given time, and the number of players in attendance. In a perfect game, all players would have exactly this many minutes and seconds of play time.

Of course, nobody is perfect, and the normal flow of a game doesn’t allow us to perfectly match players and play time. We provide Goal Time as a guide to help you make informed decisions about when to make substitutions that can ensure everyone gets the right amount of time in the game.

Please note: Goal Time is set during the pre-game attendance check-in. Players who arrive late or need to leave early will not affect the Goal Time calculation.

How do I make a substitution, and can I make multiple substitutions at a time?

You may substitute as many players as you like at once. We recommend substitutions in groups of two or three players at a time, to maintain some continuity on the field or court during play.

Tap any player to create a substitution pairing (one player heading out, one player heading in). Player pairs will be selected automatically based on their current individual playtime. Goalies are excluded from automatic pairings.

To manually choose a substitution pairing, tap-and-hold on any player, then select from the available players in either the Active or Available Players lists.

How do I cancel a substitution?

To remove a substitution pair before making a substitution, just tap either player again to break the connection.

How do I end a Game?

When a game ends, or you wish to exit live game tracking, tap “End Game” in the top corner of the screen. You will be given a few options:

End and Save: Saves your team’s individual play time stats and add them to their season totals, viewable on the homepage.

End Without Saving: Ends the game but does not update season play time totals.

Cancel: Returns to live game tracking.

How do I reset my Season statistics?

From the homepage, tap App Settings in the top corner. You may then tap “Reset Season” to set all players back to 00:00 time tracked. Please note, this cannot be undone.

Can I save play time statistics for multiple seasons?

At this time, InTimer only tracks your current season of play — or as many seasons as you want to string together. We recommend resetting this data at the beginning of each new Season to help you judge equal play time for all of your players.

How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
  1. On your iPhone, opening the Settings App.
  2. Tap “Apple ID, iCloud+, Media & Purchases” by your name and photo.
  3. Tap “Subscriptions” and locate InTimer on the following page.
  4. Tap “InTimer” to see all subscription plans and manage your active subscription if you have one.

If you wish to cancel your subscription from here, you will retain access to InTimer for the remainder of your subscription period (usually one month or one year) and your subscription will not auto-renew.

Why can’t I see my subscription — or — Why is the app locked if I have purchased a Forever unlock or subscription before?

If you are having trouble seeing your subscription or the subscription wall is displaying, tap “Restore Purchase” while your device is connected to the internet. This should restore any previously-purchased, still-active subscription on your Apple account.

You may also find the “Restore Purchase” button on the App Settings page, available from the home screen.
